Extended six months due to Viet Nam conflict.

Our last reunion was two years ago in Gettysburg. It was perhaps our best. Looking forward to our next. There was talk of going south, perhaps to North Carolina. Need help from our "good old boys" in the south to help organize.

Greetings! I served at Marine Barracks, Ft. Meade from 61 - 65 with "Hands" Foley, Tom Kiniry. and Dick "Willie" Williams and of course taught them everything they know. I have a "ton" of photos, newspaper clippings, etc. from those wonderful days and have 2 of the beautiful but short-lived barracks patches that were briefly authorized and then outlawed by "higher powers". Thank you for attempting to bring us together again!

I was among those Marines first stationed at NSA, Marine Barracks, Fort Meade. I had been transferred from the 4th Marines at K-Bay in Hawaii. I served from 1955 to 1957 at the Barracks. We lived in army barracks built during World War II. Eventually, the interim site, as we called it, would be our barracks. So it was said. Did that ever occur? I still recall "field music" coming in to sound reveille on each floor of each barracks. I remember, as well, riding a yellow school bus to the site to pull guard. It was not until I was mustered out that Marines began wearing "dress blues" while on duty. During my tour the dress was class A with MP gear. I was on the promotion list for April '57 for sergeant but was discharged from active duty in March. I had an eight year military obligation but the last five years were inactive reserve thus no promotion. I remember well Sergeant Major Fisk, Colonel Wellman, Lt. Colonel Mabie, Lieutenants Donnelly and Salisbury along with a Captain we called "the fox." If there are any "old salts" from the 50's I'd like to hear from them. Semper Fi!

Greeting Ft. Meade Barracks Marines - Happy Birthday. I served at NSA from April 1970 until my discharge in November 1972. I was a member of "B" Company. I was also a member of Baltimore's Fort McHenry Guard which provided close order drill and rifle demonstrations. My wife is a former NSA'er and we still live in the Ft. Meade area. I would like to hear from any officer and enlisted Marines of my era. Semper Fi !

Was stationed at Marine Barracks , Ft GG Meade after returning from Nam tour during the "time" of Cpt Stone , A Co. - Cpt Baker (Sgt Maj "Frog" era.) Was a running mate of Sgt Jimmy Franks (who at last check was still alive and kicking in Forrest Park Ga.) I used to pull SOG at mainsite until I was discharged in March 1971. "McNamee" was in this time slot along with many more. After so many years, one "sees " the faces but the names are rough to recall !! Ran across this site by accident but thought I'd put in a message. Mac

I was at Ft. Meade from July of 70 to Feb of 72. Capt. Stone was the daytime Mike 1, and I worked on a panel crew with Sgt Iozza, crew #3 as I recall . I now live in California and often think about the times we had at NSA, riots in DC and liberty in DC and Baltimore and Ft. Mac too. Would like to hear from any former Marine Guards from Ft Meade. Please let me know if there are going to be any more reunions, would like to attend one of those too. Semper Fi !

PFC John D. Atkinson, 1978

I was at Fort Meade during the final phase of that truly great guard operation before it was turned over to civilians around 1978. Reflecting back on how lucky I was to even be stationed there considering I joined the Marine Corps on a "unrestricted" basis at 17 years old. It seems hard to believe those 6 hour long posts at parade rest were even possible. But we did it! I remember the unexpected silent thrill of actually finding some classified material in a gentleman's brief case as it was inspected at Gate House 2. I would be hard pressed to remember the names of people there at the time. I'll never forget Moore however, whom could do 101 one arm push-ups on both arms. I believe he was from Kansas. Paul, are you still pumping Iron? Another fact that stands out in my mind about Marine Barracks, Ft. Meade... is the extremely professional presentations... and class room instruction that took place there when compared to experiences else where in the Corps. I'm very proud to be able to say, I was a real live "spit and polish" Marine Guard.

I served at the Marine Barracks and played football under Colonel Williams. I just recently met up with J.J. Sheehan at a Veterans Motorcycle Club event in Central Florida and I can't tell you how much I enjoyed meeting him again after 35 years. If any more of the wild bunch are still out there, give me a scream. Semper Fi

AT EASE, MARINES! I'll be in the area all day. I defy anyone to prove they spent more time at this hell-hole than me--three years and seven months out of a four year enlistment. Joined one month after my 17th birthday for 4 years so I could get infantry guaranteed. Wanted to go to 'Nam and volunteered to do so at every opportunity. Unfortunately, the Marines pulled out in May--just one month before I went active. (No wonder we lost that war!) Arrived at MB just one month before my 18th birthday and proceeded to do it all. "Burning the mats" on the 11-hour posts, post 23--2nd relief, post 11--Gatehouse 1--2nd relief, driver, Security Inspector (my favorite--loved "japping" the civilians), Panel Crew and Panel NCO, Corporal of the Guard, SGT of the guard----everything but Mike's 1 and 2. Any you jarheads remember the mural in the mess hall with the topless sunbather and how her top would "miraculously" appear when company was expected? ( For you post-'74 boots, I ain't talking about "The House of Four Hats".) And how many of you drank beer from the Director of NSA's fridge? Yeah, you know what I'm talking about. Couple of guys I would like to see again--Capt. Chuck McGill--I still owe that no-chinned, commie bastard a good ass-whoopin'. And the greatest guy to ever don the uniform--First Sergeant Joe Williams--I still think of you often, Top. You kept my ass out of so much trouble. Semper Fi! And when you think of our guys in harms way now--just remember what we used to say--"War is hell, but peacetime is a motherf****r!" Marines ain't made for peace, damn it--they trained to fight!

I'm sorry this is a strange request, but I'm having a difficult time finding info for General Dahill. My Cousin Bruce Dahill was an SP4 while at Ft. Meade. He recently told me that there was a General Dahill at Ft. MEade in 1972. I'm doing DAHILL family genealogy and would like to learn more about the General, or at least his first name, etc. My cousin knew nothing about the General except that he shared the same last name DAHILL.

Served at MB Ft Meade from May 77' until Sept 78' Duties: 11 hr posts; alert driver; reaction force; panel room Message: "Hue City, alert #2, signal #13, Tarawa #10"---ring a bell? Greetings to former MB Ft Meade security guards. May be hard to believe, but some of us are still on active duty (I know, get a real job). I loved my first tour at Ft Meade so much that I stayed...28 years and counting. I made Corporal just before the barracks deactivated and then went on to MSG duty. I am currently a judge advocate LtCol at I MEF, Camp Pendleton, CA--getting ready for another trip to Iraq. Would love to hear from some of my friends, especially LCpl Rudy Aguirre and Cpl Scott Peterson. Stay proud of your service.
