I served at Marine Barracks 65-66. Was in First Platoon. We lived over the offices. Was usually on duty at the AUW Shop. But like most, I did spend some time ON 7a - 7b. Would be glad to hear from any of you guy that were there during any time frame. Semper Fi

Would like to hear from anyone
stationed there during the period from April 1962 thru October
1963. Served there as a Corporal. There were several enlisted who
became officers later in their career. Ian Brennan, Timothy
Bell, to name a few. Both Brennan and I later served as DI's as
well. He was at San Diego and I was at PI (the real boot camp!).
I served on active duty from June 1960 until June 1971, leaving
the Corps as a 1stLt.

I bought a 1955 TR2 in St. John's and rebuilt the engine in the Hobby Shop Garage. Anyone there may recall that I was the one who wrecked a patrol truck on the shop road one night. The truck was mounted on the lawn in front of the MB with the "Marine Security Patrol" sign carefully placed on the front of the wreckage. Had a special court martial for that trick. I got out in August 1968 and then moved to California in 1970. I've reformed and now, ironically, I'm a lawyer. I have contacted some of those I met there, from New Jersey to California (Charles Liff, Mike Duonnolo, Bill Davies, Roland Lanzi, Charles Foote) and I have a few good photos of the area and the Marines during that time. I sure have a lot of memories of my experiences there. Best wishes to you all.
