MARINE BARRACKS
Brooklyn Naval Shipyard, New York

The Marine Barracks of Brooklyn, New York was closed in 1974.  The Barracks provided a Prisoner Guard Section for the Brig where Marine prisoners were brought in from the northeast for further transfer to Marine Bases.  Some were discharged there, so the Barracks did have an Admin Section and provided administrative support for Marines who were Honorably Discharged from the Embassies in Europe.  This Barracks also provided Marine Security to the U.S. Mission and the United Nations and when the U.S. prisoners, who were held in Viet Nam, came back to the U.S. They also performed Ceremonial Duties for Marine Burials, Color Guards for parades, and any other situation in which their presence were requested.
